What does water cooled mean

 

The motor has a metal jacket around the cyclinder and water flows between the jacket and cylinder up to a radiator. Just like on a car. Air cooled motors have fins on the cyclinder to allow for cooling.

Example: 400EX has fins on the motor, no radiator
Suzuki, Raptor, Cannondale have a radiator
