I went to the Suzuki dealer and asked about the price of the oil filter, and they want $13.95.
I then went to an Auto Parts shop and spent 15 min. trying to cross reference the part # off of the original Suzuki filter.
The replacement is FRAM # PH-6018, and it was $9.99, so I saved $4.00 or 28%.
This applies to the 98, 99, and 2000 model year for the 500cc engine.
Seeing that Suzuki makes the engine for the Arctic Cat 500, I would assume that the same filter applies.

Saving a few bucks on a filter is great! But I have seen oil filter test comparisons done, and Fram was one of the worst ?? I have used Fram on all my vehicles off and on thru the years. But after reading the test results I have stayed away from Fram. I will try to find that test and pass on the web site where I read it from. Im sure when it comes down to it, a Fram isnt going to hurt anything, but supposedly there are better filters out there. No one else may make a Suzuki crossover though??

The oil filter study:

It certainly made me think twice. Read the letter from the engineer - it's informative.

I have seen a few different models of filters cut open, and have to agree with the author of the filter study. The Fram filter looks like garbage, cheaply made and it doesn't exactly scream out quality. I usually use either NAPA Gold 1515 or Motorcraft FL-1A on my mustang, and never had a problem with either, and from this study I can see why. I knew I didn't buy Fram for some reason..;->
