Hey guys,
I'm wondering if it's possible for me to install the crank bearings on the 'zilla, the ones that go out and that Trinity or some other shop charges $200 or more to fix. I read a post about this a long time ago where a guy did them himself, he was a machinist. Where do I get the brass inserts/bearings?? I don't mind taking the time to learn how to do it since I've worked on quads and their engines before, so if I could get some info on how to do this from you guys, and maybe a tech for a race shop or two who's done it, that would be great.

Thanks,
superkev

Be aware that after all is said and done you will probably be willing to pay $400 . While not familiar with this brass insert fix(sounds like even more hassel) Doing main bearings is a chore. Do you have the needed tools?

Replacing the bearings themselves are fairly easy. Now doing the inserts are very hard. First, you have to machine the bearing bosses in the case. Then you have to make an insert out of whatever material you feel suitable(steel, brass, etc. Different shops use different materials.) and press that insert into the case. Then take the new bearing and press that into the case as well. If you do not have a mill or know anything about machining, do not attempt to do this. It is well worth the $250 to have someone do this. Also, if you buy new cases from Suzuki, they have addressed this problem and fixed it, so there is no need to mod the new cases. Hope this helps.
