Z400 Vibration?
#1
Hello,
I have a Z400 with about 15 hours on it. Since I've had it, in every gear there is a RPM point in which there is a weird vibration and resonance sound on the quad. If I pass the RPMs at this point, it gets quieter.
Sorry to sound ignorant. This is my first quad. Is this normal for this? Or will this smooth out as the engine is being broken in?
Thanks in advance.

Everything has a resonant frequency. Engines are no different. From what you wrote, it sounds like it happens at the same RPM. I would say this is just the engine's resonant frequency. There's nothing you can do about it. There's not alot of material to absorb vibration on a quad. The engines are pretty much bolted straight to the frame. This makes the vibration feel alot worse than it actually is. Of course, if it gets worse, like to the point where it really bothers you, I would take it to the dealer and have them check it out. Hope this helps!

I notice the same vibration!! I think it is just the plastic vibrating against the frame, not the engine about to go to pieces. I don't think Suzuki did as good a job on the plastic, as say Honda does. For me it happens most in 3rd/4th gear, at about half throtle.
