Z400 or something else??

Hey
Moving to the country this summer and gonna get a new quad. I really like the Z and I am thinking about buying it this summer. The area is full of fields and easy trails (fast trails) and some open land full of mud. No hills or anything tough, but when it rains its real muddy and looks to be alot of fun to go through on a quad
Just want some opinions.........
Is the Z400 the quad for me????

I just got the Z and, man, am I havin' fun! I went from an automatic (Trailblazer) to a manual. Since you don't have hills it won't be that big of an adjustment. Brent mentioned the Kawi 700 which is an automatic but I'm glad to have a manual for a sport quad. The only bad things I've heard about the Z (which are very few and I have yet to personally experience myself) are the soft rear axle and poor suspension for big jumps. My jumping has only been moderate and the Z soaks it up nicely. It doesn't sound like you have to worry about that either. On fast trails where you have bursts of speed and technical turns, the Z can hang with any quad out there (including the Raptor). Obvioulsy, on a straight-away, over some distance, a Raptor will out do the Z. Under typical trail conditions, however, you'll appreciate the Z's light weight, fine balance and power band. Get the Z and the fun begin!

Man, go with the Z. I mud mine constantly and it just asks for more. You said you don't have any real technical stuff so you don't need a 4x4 in my opinion. This is an awesome ride for sure. I've had mine through two feet deep nasty mud and it didn't get stuck, that time anyhow. hehehe

I am with bbertram. You will enjoy a sport 4X4 in the area you ride more plus you may find some work that needs doing, hey any excuse to ride right. I have a similar area and I end up on one of the 4X4 units more often that the 400ex. in the end it is up to you.

I think if you choose the Z you will be happy, but If I were you I would consider the DS650, Raptor and maybe even the new Kawi700 (if you dont mind an automatic for a sport quad), in that order.

On my Z400, I hit a few trees with my rear tires (enough to whip my back end out) and my axle is fine *knock on wood*
Except for mud that will rip an army boot of of your foot, I've never gotten stuck in mud with my Z and 22" Realtors. I'm addicted to mud too.

Just took my Z in the mud last night, it went through lots. Well not tons of mud but enough mud. It was fun, I was totally drenched in mud, I didn't bring the camcorder, I know I should have but I never. Didn't expect to get muddy. So the Z can handle the mud fairly well and with some good tires you will do even better.
