Does anybody here have a steering dampner? What is the best brand to go with? I am looking for something to take the shaking out of the bars when i go over bumps. Is this what I want?

Don't know if they make it yet for the Z400 but the Scotts damper is awesome! I have one on my Cannibal and I like it better than a piston style damper, 'cause it works without making the steering feel heavy. It only dampens handlebar movement away from center and lets the bars move back to center completely freely. There is also a seperate low and high speed adjustment, which is also very helpful. There are some other companies out there (WER for one) but I don't know if they have this feature. Good luck.

I don't a damper will be much help when drag racing. You drift and have to correct because the rear tires are spinning. Unless, maybe you do your drag racing through some nasty whoops!

Good idea, and check the toe in. If your balljoints and tierod ends are all good and you are still having a tough time running straight on blacktop I would bet that your front wheels are toed out,or toed in way too far. Good Luck.

There are a few dampers out for the Z400. I think denton and pep both make them for your bike. Check Scotts website too, or call them. I'm very happy with mine, and I believe it out performs any of the piston style dampers out there.
