I am thinking of getting a Z400. I want to know how it runs, what problems it has, wheelies?, and most of all i want to know a pipe that is as quiet or almost as quiet as stock that is an ok price?? thanks

I have on 03' White Z400. I have the LRD pipe. Its not quiet. Fortunatley, I don't have to worry about noise levels anywhere I ride. It is the better pipe out of the WB, DMC, or FMF. I tried all four before I bought it. As far as how it runs, it runs great. It revs fast and high. I removed lid, sparky, and rejetted right after the break in. This helped alot with throttle response and it seemed quicker. The suspension is great, smooth, plush, great jumper. I have heard about the axle probs., but have not had them. I really like how easy everything is on it, the throttle, clutch, and brakes all work so smoothly. The maintenance is a little more difficult then on my 400ex (chain, jetting, and removing the plastic). But it is not a big deal. We ride in the dunes and it works perfectly. Yes you can get a Raptor with 260 more cc's and a few more HP, but it is narrower, shorter, taller, heavier, and more money. You could also get a 400ex, all the same without reverse and a little slower, little less tecnology, but sometines I don't think the honda needs that technology. It depends on where you ride. At the end of the day you should be happy you have the oppertunity to chose from all these quads. Have fun

my friend has a white Z. it has stock pipe still but it rips man. The powerband is smooth steady, and strong. when you feel your almost at the top of the gear it just keeps on bringing the power. It is real light and wheelies should be a snap IMO. I only took it for like a 10 min spin but I would say go ahead. I think it's a great bike.

No way. Except for the chain thing, everything else is WAY easier on the Z, especially removing plastic.
Look at all the stuff you have to do to get to the 400ex airbox.

I guess its a matter of opinion, but to tell me that anything is easier to maintain on the z/kxf, which I have spent alot of time doing on both, is a little off. I guess the jetting is the same once you break those crappy bolts on the bowl, oh yeah the 400ex has a 17mm bolt, and just one, and no one ever said anything about stripping that out, and remover the side plastic panel, oh yeah you don't have to do that on the 400ex, and twisting the carb to one side, oh yeah you don't have to do that.....But, you are right about the airbox, oh wait the Z has a slip on slide in a slot type deal, the honda has a proven clamp design that you wil lspend $40 from prodesign to get on your z. I love my z, don't get me wrong, but I really love maintaining my 400ex.

I agree Fst4WrD, my Toomey on my blaster is fairly loud, but some ppl live in some areas where their riding area's r threatened. I don't have to worry about that cuz where we ride is private owned prop.
By the way Fst4WrD, have u had ne problems with ur KFX. I am most likely goin to get one pretty soon(within a month). I have heard a couple probs. with the axle bending. R there any other problems I might watchout for?? Thanks in advance!
