Coolant for Z400??
#1
What coolant should I use in my Z400? I looked in the manual and it didn't say which kind at all. Just go with regular green coolant with that anti-corrosion stuff? I ask this because I had to drain out all of my coolant a while ago to get the radiator out.
Thanks

The Service Manual says use a high quality ethylene glycol base anti-freeze, mixed with distilled water. Do not mix an alcohol base anti-freeze and different brands of anti-freeze.
Do not put in more than 60% anti-freeze or less than 50%.
Do not use a radiator anti-leak additive.
anti-freeze 600 ml (1.3/1.1 US/Imp. Pt)
water 600 ml (1.3/1.1 US/Imp. Pt)

I was going to go about 80% water, 20% anti-freeze. I live here in so. cal and I'm not going to have to worry about it freezing and water has a higher boiling point than anti-freeze, so I was just going to go 20% coolant to have some anti-rust protection and also the lubrication of the anti-freeze. This way the bike will run cooler. Why can't I do this? Why must it be 50/50??

Anti-freeze / coolant is just that an anti-freeze and a coolant your engine will run cooler with 50/50 mix than it will with a 20/80 mix.
Just go get a pre mix hi-performance anti-freeze / coolant and be dune with it.
I use Honda HP COOLANT READY-TO-USE 50/50 BLEND and I change it 1 to 2 times a year.
