How old, how experienced and how big is your son?

You may want to consider a 2x. My 11 year old takes his TRX90 everywhere we go on an Eiger and a Prairie 650. About the only time he gets stuck is when he gets high centered on a rut so we give him a little nudge. I'd like to get him something like an Ozark.

Most 4x's run about 600 pounds. An Ozark or a Recon are about 400.

my son is 14 and is pretty experienced. He is 180 lbs. and is 5'6''. Oh, and by the way, i am looking for a utility, not a sport quad. sorry i wasnt specific. And remember 4/4 is a must!
(around $3,000 would be nice)

try maybe and Arctic Cat 250 4x4 I beleive the MSRP for one of those is $4299 I don't think you will find a new 4x4 for much cheaper than that. Best thing I can say is shop around who knows might be able to find a 2002 4x4 such as a Bayou 300 4x4 or a Prairie 300 4x4 for around $4500 or cheaper. Most 4x4's are around 300cc's the Arctic cat is the only 250 i know of.

The Ozark 250 is a great bike and probably capable to handle anything you throw at it but it is a 4x2
