I have both a 87 LT250R and a Z400. I really like the feel of a 2-stroke, but you can't compare the ride of the Lt250R and the Z400. I love my LT because the power just always seems to be there when you want it, but the Z400 has a smoother power band and handles like you can't believe. If you ride both in the same day you will feel as if the LT250R is beating the hell out of you. Right now my Z is still stock, so I can't really say what the 400cc 4 stroke is really capable of. In the end I've kept the Lt250R to keep my friends and family off my Z if that tells you anything. The real question is do you want to spend $1500-$2500 or $5600. Both are good bikes, but of the Z400 is a much newer advanced quad then the LT250R. And rightfully so, I would be pretty pissed if I bought this new suzuki and it wasn't better then one built 15 years ago. Just ask all those 400EX owners. Just kidding......

thanks for the reply. i know what you mean about the ride quality..my problem is trying to find the best of both worlds. putting the power with the handle, and rider comfort. thanks again
