Default a few z400 questions

i just bought a new white z400 and the dealer told me that the motors come pre-broken-in...does that mean i can just ride it hard straight out of the box??? also i'm not new to atv's i grew up around them...I've had blasters, banshees, and now my first four stroke...is there anything i need to know about this motor...i opened it up today and heard a little pinging noise coming from the motor..this is on top-end revved out..please tell me this is normal...also if the motor is ok...are four-strokes able to be red-lined and ridden extremely hard without messing up??? not overrevving but u know what i mean...any help and advice about the z400 is welcome..

People seem to recommend driving them hard right away and not babying them. I drove my hard right away and haven't had any problems.

Check the spark plug if you think it's running lean. (high end pinging)

Hmmmmm... Thats the first time I've ever heard of a dealer telling someone that the motor is "pre-broken in". I don't know that I would trust that dealer, but just run it like you are gonna ride the majority of the time, make sure you vary the rpm's, let the engine slow you down quite a bit after running through the gears, change the oil at least after the first 10 hours, and make sure you warm the engine up properly before revving it. Follow these rules and you should be fine. IMO anyway.

That's the first time I have ever heard a dealer say that anything was pre-broken in....Not to say that they don't but I don't know really....I guess I'm still in the breakin period of my KFX 400 i have not flat out DOGGED it but I haven't babied it neither. I'll be heading to VMP MX with it next weekend to give it a good shake down during open practice!

It's just you

I don't think the tires have enough bite.
