Vinson , Were Impressed!
#1
Hey Vinson owners, lets hear about your machines, good & bad. My youngest son ( 38 ) was very impressed after trying one out , as i also was. He's interested in the shifter model, & hasn't tried the auto. It will be used for all kinds of trail riding. We would like to know exactly how the limited slip differental works, as a lot of steep hills will be ridden. He may wait til the 04's come out, maybe they'll have IRS & lockers on the front end, & might as well include fuel
injection ( FI ). Yeah , i know were just speculating. Not too far in the future though, i bet. Any rumors on the 04's, changes , when they'll be out? Its good to hear from the guys who have
" been there & done that". Take care of your quads guys. My new SP600 was stolen last week

I have test rode a Vinson before and I thought it was great but after I tried a Polaris 400 sportsman I could not have been more impresed. I really loved it. Not saying that the Vinson is not good which it is but for the money I would go with the sportsman 400.

I dont know what kind of sp 400 suzuki kid was riding, but after alot of reasurch and test driving i just bought a 03 vinson manual shift. I thought it was the best performing 500 out there. I like the manual shift way better than an auto, and I like the solid axal better than IRS for sporty riding. Awsome power and handeling.

My Suzuki salesman's representitive keeps telling him that a big V-twin will be announced at the spring Show. The rep won't say anything else about it. I would bet 650 to 700 cc range, IRS, front locker, and possibly fuel injection. Suzuki wants to be a leader, and all the latest machines have been very good.
I am getting a Vinson Auto this Saturday. I haven't ridden one yet, but I have heard lots of good things about them. It is mostly for my wife to ride and for me to plow snow in the winter.

You can't go wrong with the Vinson. I have had mine for 14 months and don't know that I would have bought the 5 speed even if it was available when I was buying. The auto is slick and the engine braking is superb. I see lots of guys making a big deal about the front limited-slip vs. a locker, but I think the Vinson works great. Most of the deep mud guys I see are riding Grizzlies and Sportsmen.

My dealer sold a Vinson a last March, Customer called in saying that his shifter wasn't moving out of reverse as easy as it should. Apparently Suzuki used too sharp of an angle. Suzuki is going to replace it with the revised version for free.
Suzuki's customer service has been great. They replaced the axle on my Z a month after the warranty expired.

I have an 02 Vinson, it is awesome the front diff is a little soft for my liking though. I like the mud so I put FORD limited slip gear oil in it. It's really gooey and it work good, the diff locks a little stronger. As for climbing hills and trail riding it rocks lots of power and tire speed 2WD or 4WD. I put 589 27" on mine I recommend staying stock size if you go with after market tires. I'm not a Polaris fan I'm really a Honda owner For 25 years, but this Vinson is the best bike I ever bought!!!!!!!!

skraps- would the 26" 589's be a good choice for the Vinson? I am thinking about going up a size for mud tires. Either 26" MudLites or 589s for the cool look, but the Holeshot ATR's would be better all around. Thanks,
