Default ???????

My q-runner runs good and starts fine,if I use the pull starter. Today I splurged and bought a new battery. I added acid and charged it. It measures 12.16 volts across the terminals. However electric start does not work. I know that I have continuity to run the engine b/c it runs if I crank it by the pull starter. The headlight is still very dim(no juice from the battery). That leaves me to beieve that the battery is in an open loop somewhere.

So I checked the neurtral relay............no good
Then the starter soleniod.....................no good

Then I think, damn, WTF can cause all this. I then figure that to start w/ the pull starter,I must have continuity b/t the kill switch, ignition switch.
So, to use the electric start I must have continuity b/t the 2 above components, plus the starter solenoid, the neutral relay, and the engine start switch. In order for all 5 of these components to have continuity, the FUSE must be in good shape.

Well after all this I checked the fuse and sure enough it was toast(15 Amperes). So I replaced it and that one fried and the next. HELP.

And excess current causes fuses to fry, what would cause the excess current????? I am tired, Later

12.16Volts is an almost completely discharged battery. 12.6Volts is fully charged, 12.3Volts is 50% and so on. I would get that battery charged up first. Then check your wiring to your lights, starter and throughout your harness. It may be grounding to your frame somewhere or you have two wires shorting across each other. That is what would cause your fuses to blow. Do they blow as soon as you put them in or only when you try to start with the electric start, or turn the lights on, etc. That will help you isolate the circuit that is giving you grief.

Well I found my problem,it all started a while back when I broke my key off in the ignition switch.so instead of paying for a new 3 positon suzuki switch, I went and got a switch from tractor supply(58 dollars cheaper). Well the original switch has some resistance to it to absorb some current, unlike the tractor switch I used,so I had to much juice in the system. One 68 dollar switch and 5 fuses later the problem is fixed.Later
