I have 2003 Vinson manual and I really wish I would have got a z-400. I like the vinson but I don't like how big and heavy it is. I have always had utility quads and now think it is time for a sport quad. I love going fast, jumping and playing around but you are limited to do that with a big utility quad. I am just wondering if this would be a bad move. How are sport quads on the trail when you come up to that mud hole. Can they make it through or get burried. I just want to get some of your opinions on differences on utility quads and sport quads. Thanks.

 

I'm going to be totally honest with you man....There's nothing like having a big bad 4wd utility quad that you can rip down through the woods hit every mud hole in site and not having to worry about messing something up on it....I have both a Prairie 360 4x4 and a KFX 400....The Prairie I tend to ride the most...nothing like coming home from a long days work and jump on the quad and go playing around in some mud...the KFX I love it but it's been sitting in the shed for about 2 weeks...I only use it for motocross tracks.....not that it can't handle trails I'm sure it would do just fine but It looks to damn good to get all muddy LOL!!! Depends on what you want to do with your quad if your interested in riding on MX tracks and possiable racing in the future go with the Z400 but you just want blaze down trails keep the Vinson.

 

Hey Johnsonator, I have a 2003 manual vinson I really like it. I ran into a guy on some trails last summer that had a Z400 he said he really liked it . He said it handle very well on the trails. I like the looks of the Z400. It depends on what like of trail riding you like to do. If you like to go mud riden keep the vinson. If you like to do jumps and sleding buy the Z400. Where do you ride? I ride the trails around Crosby Mn. If you deside to sell the vinson let me know.

 

I like to ride trails and ditches and the fields of our property. I ride in Isanti and Kanabec county. I used to like the mud but am getting away from that, sucks cleaning up everytime, also hard on the machines. I love going fast in ditches and trails, and cruising the back roads the vinson is fine for this but you have to be hesitant to jump that big thing, it is not easy to control a 600 pound machine going fast down the trail. I guess I really like it but I have always wanted a sport quad and evertime I see a z400 I kick my self in the butt for not getting that. Thanks for the posts keep them coming. What would you guys do? I would love to have both but I don't have the funds for that.

Hey Jonhsonator, I know what you mean about cleaning your machine. I ride mine around Crosby Ironton Mn. The iron ore mud really staines everything. Where do you ride? Have you looked at the Kawasaki KFX 700? If I was going to get a sport quad. I would buy that. It about the same money as the vinson. I looked at them when I picked up my vinson. The sales guy told me that it's really a screamer. I would like to take one for a test ride.

 

I ride in the cambridge mora area. I don't have a problem with iron ore, but we have alot of clay. I like the kfx 700 but I don't really like belt drives and if I get a sport quad I want it light. I think the kfx700 would be a lot heavier than the z400.
