I tried both Mikuni and Keihin on my 87 LT250R and the best carb i found was a ESR Mikuni TMXx 36mm. Starts great and runs like a champ, with easy jet changes. I know a lot of people that love there Keihin, and I know they are good carbs, but don't count out the Mikuni. If you go with a Keihin stay away from the PJ's...they idle like %$#%.

Any of you guys ever add the mikuni power jet modification to their mikuni carbs? I want to try it but I just want to see if anybody has ever done and know what the results were.

The TMX is just the newer version. I don't know what they changed but it is suppose to be an improvement over the TM. Mikuni currently makes different versions of the TMX. I have the TMXx which is the Mikuni that Eddie Sanders Racing(ESR) sells. What I like about this model is it uses a screw to raise and lower the slide just slightly to adjust the idle. I have found this simple way of controling the idle is very effective.
