Hello All...
Here's my situation--- We relocated from CA to CO in Sept (quad was in storage for 2 months). Prior to departing, I changed all fluids and emptied the fuel tank. I filled it up with fuel, started it, and was disappointed to notice that pressing the throttle hardly increased RPMs at all. The tank and fuel **** are in mint condition-- excellent fuel flow... so, I assume it's the carb or engine that's causing the problem. I've disassembled, cleaned, & reassembled the carb, to no avail.
Today, I repeated those steps to find the diaphragm (seated inside the top of the carb) torn. Now, the dilemma-- Is that what's been causing the problem all along or did I rip it while reassembling??
MY QUESTION: Can a torn diaphragm cause a fuel smell in the oil AND prevent hardly any acceleration whatsoever? (it starts/idles like a charm... just NO acceleration)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks...

welcome to the fourm! after changeing the diaphram does it rev atall? the gas smell in oil is caused by fuel leaking, or running very rich, into the engine. make sure that when you put your atv up for a while turn the fuel off.
heres what you could do. run the ATV and see if it revs. then you may have to remove the air box lid and filter. but do so, while running, and place your finger into the carb and press on the throttel. see if the slide is moveing up when its suppose to rev. if not then move the slid up with your finger and that should raise the rpm.
my guess yould be a clogged vaccume line in the carb body, or the diaphram is not seated correctly. ether way you will have to take the carb apart agean
