Default Winter tire pressure?

I was just wondering what pressures (high or low) would help me get a little more grip in the snow. Right now I've got bubble tires with about 5psi in them.

that might be all the traction you are going to get. if anything though i would lower the pressure. not much. maybe a pound or pound and half. not much you can do other than get better diggers.

I use my 05 wolverine for ice fishing and ride through quite a bit of snow. I have found that if you drop your pressure down to around 3 psi it will get you through all the snow that the machine can handle. You have to be careful not to drop too much or you run the risk of breaking the bead on the tire under certain conditions. Your other option would be tire chains, but then your limited on speed and run the risk of them loosening up and tearing up you fenders. Hope this helps you out.

I run about 4psi in the tires. Or should I say it drops to about 4psi in the winter. I can tell you from exterience that if you go much below 4 psi (say 2-3psi) you will have difficulties keeping the bead on the tire. All it takes is a quick turn and for the tread to grab a rock or stick and the tire will roll tight off the bead.

Other thing is to watch the snow so it doesn't pack up around your CV boot too much. If it does it can press it down and tear it. I usually plow in the winter with out my skid plate on to keep the snow from building up and to make it easier to remove if it does. I do not have an issue unless the snow is really wet and I am driving through a lot of deep stuff.
