Default Polaris AWD hub coils maintenance question.

I have a 1999 Polaris 400 Xplorer 4x4. Does anyone know how to check the coils with a volt-meter? Does anyone know how to remove them from the front struts to verify that they are not damaged from water on the back side of them?

I did read on here that it is very important to keep the hub fulids checked and cleaned. I have done that but my right work intermittently and sometimes sticks.

Any information on how to check and remove/install would be great. I have also been told that the best way to get them repaired is just to replace the entire strut with new coils already on them-----too expensive for me.

Thanks!

over time the awd system can magnitize the system. you can check them. there was a link how to check them but not via volt meter. it was take the hub apart and check with something steel to see if they magnize. but if it sticking id say it from the age of the machine.

Good Idea. Thank you. Any links in the "how-to" on removing the coils? My searches come up empty. I think they come off the struts don't they?
