Default Cam chain noise

I have an early 2004 500 sportsman. The problem I am having is the constant tic tic tic that is most noticed at idle.I believe it to be the cam chain.I have checked the tensioner, seems to be working fine. This atv was bought used and had a hot cam that was changed back to stock before I bought it.I am just worried that the chain may beat the covers or something else apart. There is 2000 miles on the unit.I wonder if the chain is stretched that far that the tensioner can't take up the slack?Any ideas?

I would replace the cam chain, we had the same problem with our recent rebuild on our stock Mojave.

Good answers.I wonder what kind of job it's going to be replacing the chain and the price of a new one?As far as the valve adjustment I don't think it will that hard. Thanks alot for your input boys.
