Vacuum Piston maddness
#1
Any one have any idea on how to reseat the vacuum piston on a Keihn CVK carb?
My 94 kawasaki was leaking fuel from the float bowl so I thought a new float needle would helpout, as I had the complete kit figured might as well renew all--wrong--spent 2 hrs trying to get vacuum diaphragm back in the groove, really do not want to put out $140.00 !! to replace a intact diaphragm, It seems like the diaphragm is stretched?
Thanks

Gas vapor along with age can cause these to stretch over time. You can try a nice warm, dry place other than a microwave
for a couple days and see if it can shrink a little. Wouldn't advise using rtv around the lip to hold the diaphragm in place until you got the cap back, but only as a last resort. If it doesn't work, time for a new one.

Put a little grease in the groove, all the way around the groove....thro the diaphragm in the freezer....yep...the freezer side of your frig. This will cause the diaphragm to shrink, then possibly fit. Handle it with care...
