Default 1999 sportsman 335 problems....HELP!

My wheeler is acting like its running out of gear. It's over reving at 10mph. Back fires like a sob when I come off the throttle. I took the clutch cover off, pulled the clutch. Seems a little worn but not overly. Just put a new belt on and still having the same problem. It's almost acting like the primary clutch isn't squeezing the belt enough, so the belt isn't riding up on the primary. Need some advice please. Options on trouble shooting.or has anyone encountered any of the same issues??

It may not be the primary, but rather the secondary. When was the last time they both were serviced?

You'll know once you start pulling it apart if its been "recently" serviced...but back shifting is the job of the secondary...no harm in your plan however...

You were right about it being my secondary clutch my friend. One of my buddy's had a parts bike (2000 sportsman 500).he lent me both the primary and secondary. I put primary in and the problem was still there. Swapped out the secondary, and now she is new!. Thanks for all the advice!! Greatly appreciated!!
