Cleaning the face of the pick up coil may help.Seems to be common problem on the 425/500 engines after awhile. Plus check resistance on the pick up coil white and red/wires that lead to the cdi. Should be around 97 ohms resistance. This can eliminate whether the pick up coil is weak or not. Look at this same problem from another member.Broken rope caused his initial problem on altering pick up coil gap to the flywheel.Normal gap between face of the coil and tab on the flywheel is between .016-.040. no spark to plug when using electric starter - Page 3 - ATVConnection.com ATV Enthusiast Community

Default Thanks "that was it"

I pulled the cover off and it was full of moisture probably 3tablespoons of water ran out but after drying out and cleaning I had a weak spark. Then I adjusted the pick up coil and it fired right up.

"Thanks Again"

I know it involves taking the recoil cover back off but best to use silicone around the cover and even silicone the rope handle down on the nipple. This will help keep moisture out of the stator area and if you ever need the recoil you can break it free from the silicone.Clear or aluminum color, never RED,the signature of an amateur.
