Poor mans ramps
#1
Anyone know of an easy way to improvise and get a quad into the back of a truck? Maybe make some cheap ramps or something? Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appriciated. Money = too tight to purchase ramps atm

Here are the ramp tops I was talking about. You can probably find them cheaper than Cabelas has them for. IF they are $30, you can be into the ramps for under $50 including the 2x8's and straps for safety. You don't necessarily hav to buy the rubber matts they have, but something to make the 2x8's not so slippery would also be a good idea

The real poor mans ramp is when you just tip the quad up on it's rear rack. Tipping it forward into the truck. Then lift the back end up and push.
Boards work too.

I bought ramps at harbor freight for $35. They are 6 ft long metal ramps. 8" wide. Not the best but they work, and cost about as much as 2x8 with ramp ends on them. I just strap them to the bumper with a tie down when loading

I know that you don't want to spend much $ on a set of ramps, and I understand where your coming from. But you shouldn't! Your saftey is riding on these ramps, not to mention $ you paid for your ATV. Happy trails!

Personally, I'm going to Harbor Frieght to get some ramps soon. For now I back my truck up to a low spot and lift the front end onto the tailgate and then lift the back up...not a fun workout. Last Saturday I loaded it like that and once the front end was up the thing rolled forward and pinned my ankle against the tailgate....OUCH!! Next time, I'm using ramps.
