If you are looking for a "very quiet generator" you need to stay away from Home Depot, Costco, or any other brand of generator. They are very noisy You need a Honda generator. Problem is, for the price you want to spend, you'll need to look for used ones.

They sell for roughly $1,700 and up. Did you ever get your oil drain situation fixed?

whats up ds engineer???

yep, under warranty work, the guys at Stiers took a sawzall to an insignificant part of the frame, and now i have a place to put the allen wrench!!!

i questioned them about the frame thing, and eclipse gave me a lifetime warranty on the frame because of it.....

gonna install a fram sure drain, like i have on my front tank on my DS, to make it even eaiser....

As everyone else said, those HD, Costco, etc. generators are LOUD. They are commercial (think construction site) generators. They are designed to make power cheaply when noise isn't a consideration (other than any Federal EPA noise requirements). The only way those are quite would be to compare it to the Miller Bobcat 8000watt gen/welder we have at work. Now that thing is LOUD. Everything after that is quiet...

The Honda and Yamaha inverter/generators are the mark of quiet and good power. But be prepared...smooth, squiet power isn't cheap. Even the quiet Onan's in the RVs can be loud in comparrison.

mstrquad puts his genny in his truck with the tailgate open and the camper shell door down and that makes it better, till you walk over there.

That Honda 3000 is UNBELIEVABLY quiet. I was actually shocked as I was walking past a friends truck and heard a humming sound. IT WAS HIS GENERATOR!!!!! I didn't even hear it until I was next to it....

Thats my next purchase....without a doubt....

I agree, the Yamaha generators are very quiet too Just isn't going to run all the electrical crap the wife and daughters want to bring For built-ins on a trailer, definately go with a Onan had a 4000 on our old motorhome and that thing was great

Most of the people on there are old retired people set in their ways, honda's are good gen's but they price is outragous, if you use your gen daily for commercial use or something then honda is a good way to go but 95% of generator owners dont use them all that much. All gen's even the honda's get their carbs clogged up with old gas from sitting and more people have problems with that than anything else.

I saw this line of gen's and figured they will be a hit. I plan to abuse mine(max load for 2-3 tanks of fuel atleast) when i get it, we will see. I still havent heard one bad thing about them from everyone who has bought them already.

Honda EU2000 is perfect for any trailer. You can find them for as low as $850 on the net or $950 or so at most shops. If you use the AC all the time, go with the EU3000

i hear ya Sean, my rancher had tons of carb problems, got it fixed but eh, yea most people over there will put down anything that is cheaper then the honda model simply becuse if there is something better for cheaper they feel they got screwed and won't admit it, i just bought a elim3000 you will see it in cheap chinese 3000 generator post, i love it day i got it i ran it full load for 8 hours, i love the thing and its pretty decently quiet

Hey Shedman. Why don't you just get the $725 generator and then put a good muffler on it. I noticed that the cheaper generators are mostly noisy because of the exhaust noise. I have a 7.5 kw Onan. It is fairly quiet, but I have seen quieter.

Bryce, got the 7.5 Onan on my RV. Pretty happy with it. Only cost me 6500.00 and had an motorhome wrapped around it.

I know a couple of people that went the cheap route, then, tried up grading the exhaust/carb. In the long run, they wish they had just invested in a better/quieter generator.

Me also, Winnebago Vectra 31RQ Mine cost a bit more.
But boy does it suck the gas pulling a Jeep or trailer.

Excellent point rescuediver. However sounds as if cost is an issue. Another thing to consider is an inverter. You can get a 1.5kw (continuous) inverter for $325. The other $475 would be good for about seven size 27 deep cycle batteries.
