I guess i didn't mention it, but i dont tow things fast, however when doing a long grade i do make sure to keeps it where it needs to be, so as not to cause an accident or incident. And ive driven several diesels with the same load, and they cannot touch my V10. If you haven't spent any time with a V10 then you really dont know what they can do. On several of my pulls my buddies with there oil burners and slightly lighter loads coudn't even touch me on the hills, no it wasnt exactly a race but with wide open road i decided to take em up on it an make em see the err of their ways...lol.

Rickpred, from what i've read the chevy 6.0 gasser even with 4.10's will struggle quite a bit with 10k in tow. But thats only from what i have read. Good luck.

Ostrich i agree with you. There are silly people who drive in excess, and with that i dont just mean over the speed limit. Too many people think they can handle their rig even at the speed limit and find otherwise. I usually drive quit a bit under the speed limit, because im in no hurry and i dont trust other drivers.

I do not speed pulling anything but my boat, but i can tell you this i would not go higher and would be more comfortable with about 3k less weight. My rig handles it well, it loves the rpms at 4-5k on hills and i even pass the oil burners pulling less loads. I do not have any specifics on the 6.0 from chevy but i have heard a few things. Goto this site an read or search under towing and towrigs and post up your q's before buying anything. clicky clicky

You contradict yourself. Do you speed or don't you? Why only speed with your boat? It can blow a tire or throw a bearing just like any other trailer. Actually more so, everytime you launch/retrieve your vessel, the wheels/bearings get wet.
You say you pass the oil burners. You can't touch an oil burner with your rig. And, when you THINK you can, watch that gas guage suck itself dry.

Well there are obviously some people here who think diesels are the best thing since sliced bread. I've owned several. No big deal. Rescuediver you very cleary dont know jack about the V10's. When and if you do, then i will debate them with you.

I dont mind passing people while im pulling my boat, my truck barely notices that its there. And that is what i mean by speeding when pulling anything. It's absolutely ludicrise to think in terms of speeding while pulling anything. I've seen it done with and without bad results, its not for me nor anyone with half a brain.

I do regular maintenance on all my vehicles including all the work on my project 4X4's. So it's safe to say i know what im doing and when.

I see by your sig that you have a ford diesel, "'01 F250 4X4 7.3 Powerstroke, CrewCab,Bank's Big Hoss power chip,Bank's Transcommand,4" stainless steel exhaust, 4" lift,Weld"Outback"wheels" that is one thing in your favor, but having the ego of a regular forum troll is not. Your diesel cant hold a small 4% grade compared to mine.

So since we're all clear on your limited knowledge of these engines why dont you try to help the guy that started the post with something oh lets say informative and helpfull.

Have a great day.

Kamots, I'm sorry, but I'm gonna have to call BS. I have a friend who has a darn near 40' 5er toy box with a GVWR around 14K. He pulls the Cuesta grade (mentioned by Karyn) at barely 35 by the time he hits the top with the tranny down to 2nd gear and the engine screaming along. And it's only a few miles long. Maybe 6%. Meanwhile all of the guys driving PSDs, Duramaxes & Cummins are waiting in Paso for their gasser friends to show up (and gas up.) That friend also eeks out a measly 6MPG towing. Of course a trailer that size needs to be pulled by an F-450 or F-550 (same drivetrain, just running 4.88 or even a 5.something rear if you run the V-10.)

And I wouldn't exactly call rescue a troll as he's a moderator. That doesn't mean he's infallable though.

Kamots,
You come out here and well run questa.
Load the trucks with 10,000lbs each and see who makes it up first.

Id even put money on it.

Unless your truck has some SERIOUS mods it cant 0wn a PSD.

Whats funny is i didnt bash anyones truck. I was throwing my .02 cents out. Trying to help the initial forum poster, while at the same time showing what my truck pulls. Then all of this happened. I will defend my truck or anything else that is called upon. I have several mods to my truck. I dont talk about them to anyone. I just prove to people what it can do when needed. I dont have any problems with the oil burners as ive owned several. And like i said i wasn't bashing anyones truck.

BlackandRedWarrior you didnt mention what truck you buddy is driving. And if you read correctly, rescuediver, is the one who started trashing on my truck first. I will always defend myself against trolls. Like i stated above, i did not hate on diesels.

Powerstroke01 you dont know my truck. You probably dont know V10's either. It would be nice if people could get along, but it's obvious that diesel owners have to think there the best, as you showed with your little remarks. Ive got a few IH gas motors that would pull your truck and trailer into H.E.L.L. while your still sitting in the drivers seat in shock. Grow up, expand your knowledge. Move on.

Karyn, that's because his is a Dodge and those were only good for sucking down gas. There's a reason they don't use it anymore.

Hey, Dan's married! You better watch it!
