I like the new Tundra but think it is overpriced. But all Toyota's are. If I were still doing the half ton thing, I would go look at one!

UHoh.. Just got my CDL-A permit. Only had to take my HAZMAT test over again. [img][/img] WAYYYY to many questions.. [img][/img]</end quote></div>

Just don't get a ticket. Ever. And that failure to check the tracks with a HazMat load is like $10K.

If i remember right less than 3-5% of our loads out here are hazmat. So im hoping i get to stay away from dem.
I didn't miss any questions on the tanker test either. Even though im pretty sure i didn't need the tank endorsement. haha
Good stuffs.

Now the fun begins. I may start a "blog" on my myspace once i get to training.

It's better to have the endorsements and not need them than need them and not have them. Though I think most of the endorsements (except air brakes) are not driving test required. I know doubles aren't. So are you going away for school? Or is it local?

Didn't want to interupt the fun in here but my question got absolutely no play on it's own so I figured I'd join the fun in here and maybe get some serious input on the side.

Sorry if this has been covered a million times, but I'm on a Govt. computer and don't have lots of time to dig up the old threads.

I have a 2001 7.3 PSD Crew Cab 4WD. It's getting near the time to replace the tires and I need some input from those with experience. I bougth it in May with 150K, the tires look like the originals! Probably more like the third set. It currently has 265/75/16 on it and I am looking to go to a 285 if it can be done with no mods. Need something that works well both on pavement and the occasional trip to Glamis and Dumont. Don't really take it deep into the sand but if I were to venture out I need something to keep me afloat.
Prefer something kind of quiet on the highway, will get many miles if maintained properly, not too harsh on the mileage if I go bigger than the 265, and can handle the weight of a 28' TH with a couple of DS650's in it.
The truck is stock with no major mods, just shocks, and plan to keep it that way for longevity purposes.

If you have the inside on where to get some of the recommended tires at a reasonable cost please include that info. My local dealer wants $1K for the Goodyear Silent Guards in the 285. One of only two local dealers so I'm at their mercy here. Ebay has some decent deals for sets of four but when you factor in S&H... I'd like to stay under $600 if at all possible, is it? I can mount and balance on our base for under $20 so I don't mind having them shipped if the total cost if right.
Thanks for you help guys.

You could easily put in a leveling kit and have no issues with the tires you want to run. Maybe a little bigger. Those kits are pretty cheap . Usually less than $200.

Sorry Ace, but I don't know if I could help you much. My tires are big and loud. All I can say is don't go too big without a lift. Your front tires will hit the springs when you turn.

You might check with the folks over at powerstroke.org - lots of knowledge there. I'm looking at a set of tires for my 06. Talk about sticker shock, the dually rear adds two more to buy. Looks like $1200-1400 for anything decent.
