ya, back on the psd topic, i had some wierd problems today. I stalled a few times, on a steep hill. I'd get it to re-start, it'd move 10 feet, and just die. so i pulled the chip, and it kept acting the same way. managed to limp home by re-starting and moving ahead in 10 foot increments.

so then i go out again (still no chip). it starts to sputter and is puking out blue/grey smoke big time. i can hammer the gas pedal, and it has zero affect, just keeps chugging along, coughing out heavy smoke. so, any thoughts on what this problem might be?
If I had to guess I would say injector pump problems.

How does it restart? Does just fire right back up and idle correctly? Does it take a lot of cranking to start? Does it spudder when idling?

Diesels don't (or gas engines either) like cracked fuel lines. It lets air into the system and will cause stalling, hard restarts after sitting, and spuddering. Check the lines and replace the filter and see what happens next. Let me know what you find out

'04 and '05 6.0's have a recall out for the Injector control module and wire hanness issues. I guess the harness is rubbing through and causing wiring problems. try pulling on the wire harness that connects to the injector module and see if it starts to run correctly. Check with your local Blue oval dealer about this problem also

hey OFC, nuthin wrong with drinkin large quantities of beer. too bad it had to be Buttwiper. you can take the daughter, but then you MUST buy the farm, not just the cow. and NO milk for free.

i was gonna originally post my psd problem as, "creator, can you help me cuz none of these other guys will have a clue"...., but i thought that'd be rude so i didn't! anyways, mine is a '99. just turned 100,000 (kilometres= 62,000 miles). re-starting conditions varied. mostly it'd start right away. if it cranked more than 5-6 times, i shut it off, turned it back on, then it'd start. It'd idle normal, then accelerate normal, move ahead 10 feet, cut out completely, and die. over the past 4 months, there's been about 3-4 similar occasions where it's just cut out. but on all of those, once it re-started, it ran perfectly normal. and the check engine symbol came on too.

the smoking problem came later, after i'd been home and went out again. in that case, it just chugged erratically (almost like a cold start chug, where the glow plugs haven't had enough time to heat things up). so it chugs, the acc. pedal made no difference, and it's pouring out this awful smoke. it was jerky. this continued for about 1/4 mile until i reached my destination and left it shut off for about 6 hours. then it drove home fine.

I replaced the fuel filter in March, maybe 2-3000 miles ago. It should be fine. Mine is a 1999, 7.3L. your theory on electrical seems possible.an occasional rub or exposed wire causing an intermittent problem. i may get ford to read my error code.

BTW MD, i'd love to spend the summer enjoying the fruits of our labor. but alas, the ball-reducer/controller will make those decisions. i'd rather see a big real estate crash so it'd be cheaper for me to upgrade. otherwisae, why move? that 320 acre spread in the North was sure beautiful, but no job= no acres.
LOL!

I too, am hoping this real estate market crashes Can't continue to climb the way it is can it
are you crazy keep on going up.
No, I just want my ranch to drop to a price I can afford It's outrageous to think 3 acres of land is worth $400,000 with nothing on it.

You can get 20 acres up here for less than $200,000

Yes, you are right We are waiting to see how much 25 acres outside Jamestown is going to cost Any acreage in the valley is outrageous
