Try using a heat gun for paint removal ( or a propane torch with a bit more care will work ) lightly heat up the surface of your plastic where the scratches are the edges blend together & the scratches will nearly disappear...I have head of several people having good success with this method, I haven't personnally used it but have seen the results... it will also work to a point for restoring some of the faded color on sun faded plastic as well... I don't know the long term effects of heating the plastic up to remove scratches, but the short term results are remarkable...WAM

You can try wetsanding the scratches if you want the most economical way, the plastic renew also works well and runs $15-20 for a kit. The plastic renew will be a day long task though, and if you go riding through some brush or anything it has been known to flake off.

The blow torch trick works very well!!!

It even brings the color (red on mine) back.

I used some soapy water and 0000 steel wool first, then Meguirs cutting polish with a buffer, and then a light passover with the torch. Plastic looks like new.

Thanks for a great tip!
