Well, I just went to books a million and bought up all the 4 wheeler mags i could find. One of them, a bi-monthly publication, has a review of it. Here are the basic differences I can remember from the 400, which i just acquired one of. It has low range ( which the older 400s had), it has the grizzly differential lock ( which i wish I had, though i probably wont ever need it). It has a digital panel for information. I dont remember that there were alot of differences in frame or suspension. I will look at the article again. One thing you can be sure of is that it will be reliable. I havent ridden my 400 yet. I'll be talking about it soon though. What i like about the kodiak personally is the trans setup, especially the way it can be snorkeled. Low range is cool. And almost all of the design flaws seem to be fixed. I dont know if this has helped you any but I'll try again after i review the article

I have never rode the griz. I dont like it cause its air cooled. and i dont like it cause it has alot more issues than the kodiak. do a search on the yamaha forum for grizzly problems and kodiak problems and you will see what i mean. That was all it took for me to say no to the griz. But for some reason im thinking the 450 kodiak is air cooled. My 400 is liquid cooled. I like that better. Im going to have to check that article to be sure.

I just recently picked up a 450 Kodiak and I must say I'm having a lot of fun with it

I believe its a great trail machine and if there are no trails just make your own, the diff-lock rules, you can go anywhere! ANYWHERE!!!

I definitely would recommend this wheeler and I'm a Honda guy.

Yes the 450 Kodiak and Grizzly are liquid cooled.

450 Yam is good machine, typical Yam quality, excellent locking front diff, it's only a rear suspension away from being best in class. The only 400cc Utility machine faster is the 400 Outlander.

I like that the Kodiak has disc brakes, liquid cooling and diff. lock. The only thing I don't like is the belt drive. (A man at an atv garage just showed me a bill to replace a belt drive and one clutch. $800. I think it was over $600. in parts.)

O.K. here's the deal, First the bad. Fix the loose handle bar issue(see my pics. for the fix). Trim front lower black plastic mud flap thingys BEFORE they crack. Check that all vents are tightened. The Good: On the fly 4 wheel drive. Narrow wheel slance( This can be good! for riding in narrow places where the griz. can't go.( unless you own a chainsaw).Nice power.Low Range(I use it). Add Winch+ ****** block&nylon strap. Add BEER holder. Info. nobody tells ya: In 4x4 lock, only the front wheels lock, the back only drives one with the diff. I found this out by riding up on a compost pile and seeing whats spinning.(TRY IT). But it's all good the kodiak will go almost any where. Oil filter #s Fram Ph 6017a, Napa 1358, AC 2057, Purolator ML 16817. Get Mud Lights (Tires). Anything I forgot? OH YEAH ADD BEER HOLDER!!

Kodiak 450 also has a easy drain by the right foot if water gets in to the belt case. A nice feature. I have had mine up to the racks and didnt need to drain it

Kodiak 450 could climb a barn wall if you could hold on
