wow, expensive mod there. Out of curiosity, what kind of stuff do you ride in? Ok, there is a bi monthly atv magazine that has a couple of guys exploring in alaska on atvs equipped with these. thier second segment is out this month. From what I remember in the first segment there is a greatly reduced pressure on the ground, not much difference in handling, and a slightly lower top speed. Low end torqe is not hurt. Ground clearence is improved, the quad is significantly wider. It seems that the center of gravity may be improved but dont hold me to that. Personally, if i lived in alaska, or in a swamp somewhere I might could see the utility to justify the expense......

I'm also seriously considering getting a set of these.....anyone out there have any opinions or experience with them ? Just FYI scue2, the local power company has all but stopped buying snowmobiles for power line inspections/access to faults etc., and have gone with these track systems for their ATVs. Apparently, they work pretty awesome, especially in the snow, where i'm looking to use them.

ATV Television (on the Outdoor Channel) just did a piece on these tracks. They put a set on a Kawasaki Prairie 650. These things have a tested history of being fantastic in deep snow and mud. The manufacturer wanted to see how they'd do in the sand and with rock crawling....so they sent a set to ATV Television. In both the sand and on the rocks they worked incredibly well. Of course, with the increased footprint steering is much stiffer. It also reduces the gearing so you won't be winning any races. Also, these tracks work the engine considerably harder so your fan will being spending a lot of time spinning. Its not something I'm at all interested in owning (especially considering the price....close to $5000.00 for a set), but for what they are intended for....they get the job done....and then some!
