Default Big Bear

Hey I was thinkin about my next 4 wheeler. I know a lot about Big Bears from reading stuff, and they are very stong and reliable. It has incredible low end torque and pretty good middle, but I've heard it has barley any top end speed. I mnea, my Fourtrax 300 now is reliable but I want somethin bigger, the thing is I like the speed. Wat do u all think? Bout' how fast can it go?

a big bear will barely top out at 45-50 mph and it sounds like it is going to explode at that speed. a good cruising speed on a big bear is aroud 30-35. i know because my brother has one and i have rode it a good bit.

My friend has a 2003 big bear 400 and it tops out at about 48 or 49mph. It does have lots of low end torque. I raced him and he had to start in third because if he starts in a lower gear he cant shift fast enough to keep it accelerating. Its a pretty good mudding four wheeler because of the torque and ok ground clearance

As soon as I posted that last messaage I went to Yamaha.com. I think the Wolverine is perfect for everything I want. My favorite 4 wheelers are a Big Bear and a Warrior, this is a mix of both. It's strong but fast (anybody no how fast?), itz a 5 speed semi-auto which I am used to, it looks pretty cool, I think, and it's 4 wheel drive. the only thing i don't like is all time 4x4....

Highlifter.com sells the 424 unlocker kit for the wolverine. I am also considering the wolverine because i dont like auto, and my grizzly is a little big for me. from what i have heard its a good machine overall, but it has bad mud protection.

It means when you get into a mud hole, mud is going to get all over you.

o heck im fine with that as long as it doesnt hurt the actuall 4 wheeler. i go mudding all the time. if it doesnt get into the exaust or submerge the engine im fine.

I think you should get the Big Bear. My friend has had a woplverine and had nothing but trouble out of it. My Big Bear can do whatever I want it too, from wheelies to jumping to mud to OK speed (52) to just trail riding. And if you ever need something that can really pull, you need a Big Bear. It's a little bit bigger chassis than a Wolverine by far, but its not hard to control or nothing. Just my thoughts, l8er
