plowing w/ Kodiak 400 4x4
#1
Does anyone use their Kodiak 400 4x4 for plowing snow? I am a little curious how the 400 auto tranny will do under these conditions. Is it going to be too much strain on the machine due to the fact that it lacks a low range?

Well, I dont know for sure about that but I bet it will be a strain. Here is why: not only does the 400 not have low range, its high range is higher geared than the 400s of 2002 and earlier. Thats what a cousin of mine would say is "an iffy call."

I had a 2000 Kodiak with a 5' Moose Plow and it worked great! In fact I had made a box out of plywood for the rear rack and put 3 sandbags full of crushed stone for weight in them without a problem. I'll admit though I had to change the tires and ran 25x10x12 Titan 598's all the way around which made the Kodiak unstoppable in the snow. I never had a problem with the tranny in two winters of hard plowing so don't sweat it!
