Hi I own a 2000 Suzuki Quadmaster 500. When I try to start it, it just turns and turns and doesnt even try to start. When I got it 1 week ago, it started up great, but slowly, it has become harder and harder to start. Now I cant even get it at all. I think it may have something to do with the choke, but I dont know for sure.

Also, it doesnt idle. When I get it to start(rarly) I have to continually give it gas or it will die. It will not idle or even try to idle at all. Please help I need to go hunting this weekend!

 

sounds like fuel problems, lack of fuel makes it hard to start , and then wont idle . check to see if it has a fuel filter ? sometimes spraying a little fuel into the intake wil lhelp . I use a old manuel windex bottle. give this a try or just pour a little into the intake and then try starting.

 

check your plug also. its a cheap fix if thats what it is

 

check to see if you r gettin gas to the carb, if that aint it check to see if the spark plug is sparkin, if that aint it, clean your jets, and if that aint it, it got to be something wrong with the wiring somewhere check the key switch and kill switch first.

 

Have you checked your air filter?? and make sure your vent hoses arent crimped under your seat-I have had this happen before...worth a shot to try em all.

 

one other thing to check, your fuel shutoff, i shut mine off while i was trailering it, got home, took it off the trailer and parked it. next time i wanted to ride, dang thing wouldnt run right, then died and wouldnt start, it would turn over fine but nothing, then it hit me DUH! I am an Idiot, i forgot to turn the fuel back on!!!!!!! needless to say no problems at all after that, ha ha ha.
