What pressure is best in ITP 589's?
#2
I have a new set of 589's and I'm used to just pushing on the rear tires with my foot to check the pressure is about right. With these tires they seem so stiff that I can't tell with the foot test. What pressures are you guys with 589 tires running?

Since nobody has answered you, I'm going to guess and then maybe someone will correct me and you'll get your answer. The recommended PSI is 7 for 589's so I'd run about 5 psi depending on where you're riding. (rocks, hardpack, etc..) If I was going to ride on rocks then I'd probably drop it 1 or 2 more. Once again, I don't have 589's and it's just a guess.

I have Blackwaters, I never run more than 3 PSI in those tires with no load on the bike. Too much air and the tires will be very jumpy at speed on the bumps, will wear the centers of the tread, and will provice less traction as the only part of the tread touching is in the middle.
If you have a load of gear on or in tow, use more, example hauling out game after hunting.

Not sure what we are running. We mostly go by the foot test but as you said they are pretty stiff. If they look like they got enough air and it rides good it must be good!
