Dumb Question but here I go - Friend has this device that is a "C" style looking device that has a end treaded pin that slides thru one opening and treads into the other end. When pin is in place and treaded in this thing looks like a backward "D". He has the pin thru his trailer hitch ball hole on the back of his ATV and when stuck you can hook a winch hoop directly to the "C" part of this device. I think these devices are used quite often by Bull Dosers and Crane companies to attach cables and strap systems. Can someone tell me what the name of this device is. Going to order and attach to my ATV trailer ball hitch hole. Thanks

 

It is called a clevis.

i got one from a buddy of mine that works for a towing company great thing to have. i just leave connected to my atv all the time and if you ever need to get pulled out of a mud hole or tow back a another atv you will be glad you have it. good luck finding one.

I have a hitch attachment that I bought at Cabelas that incorporates everything in one hitch. I have the d-ring, the regular hole for a pin, and a 3/4" hole for mounting a ball hitch. I think it was about $25.00. It bolted directly to the stock hitch on my Sportsman. No rattle, secure and works great.

 

I have something I attach to my atv that works for everything. I can pull with a nylon strap or cable or tow a trailer. Its called a 2" ball. They come in shiney chrome. $7.00. Some atv have a hole that these can be bolted to. I can instruct anyone in the installation of this item if you need.
