Default Tire "Slime" or stop leak equivalent...

Just bought an '04.5 Polaris Sportsman 400 and put a set of ITP C3 Wheels on it. I'm new to this ATV gig and am wondering if the rest of you "utility" ATV'ers use any of the stop leak type sealants in your tires. If so, which one do you think works the best and why? TIA

You live right next to Pismo, and you bought a ute????

I have run slime before, and didn't like it. It eventually dried up and just left a crust inside the tire. I now run fix-a-flat in all my tires all the time! This is controversial, because some people have experienced rim corrosion.

LOL! Yep...bought me a Ute! I hate the sand....it's just to icky! I actually spend my time in the hills chasing Bambi and his assorted friends.

Were you running the goo in a Ute or a Go Fast?

TreeDoc, I use a product called " Ride On " in my touring bike tires. Its not a flat repair but more of a flat prevention product. Does not gum up the rims or tires in any way. One of the dirtbike mags did a test and the results were impressive. Dont have the web page address right now but let me know if you cant find it and I'll look it up.

I originally ran Slime in all my bikes. When I would pull the tire off to replace it, there would be nothing but a hard, dry, crust inside. So, I switched to fix-a-flat. Works well for small stuff, like thorns, etc. Not going to seal a big hole though! Always carry a plug kit, and some way to air up your tires.

Never used it personally, but many friends have and liked it. The only problem I could see is trying to patch the tire from the inside with that slime in there. I keep a tire plug kit on hand for repairs, had good luck with that too.

Had a friend who used the 'slime' and when he took it to the tire shop to get the hole patched up... they couldn't because of the slime stuff and the coating it left on the inside of the tire. He had to buy a new tire.

I don't use anything & never had problems, yet.

I can plug a hole, even with fia-a-flat gurgling out of the hole!

We use a product called Flatgaurd, It is a mix of fiber and rubber filings. It has anti freeze type base and does not dry out and flake. Cost approx. $35.00 per gallon. We put around 16 oz. in each tire, it works real good and will seal up a good sized punture from sticks or thorns.

my grandfather uses it in his tires, it didnt dry up like some of you guys said but instead when we changed the tires there was a green goo inside, seemed to plug the holes put if you do use it make sure you have some way to inflate the tires after.
