Default FIS vs. double A-arm

A guy at work brought in an Arctic-Cat ride guide for me to look at. In the guide it says the 650 Cat is the only big bore quad with true fully independent resr suspension. My grizz has independent rear suspension and each side is in no way connected to the other side. Did Cat do something different or is it BS?? The rear is the same setup as my brother 03 Cat.

Only thing i can think of is they dont have the stabilizer bar or whatever yall wanna call it. I know with it hooked up on mine it was IRS but if one side went up the other side went up to, know what i mean?? I took mine off which gave for a smoother ride.

How does it handle at higher speeds with the stabalizer off ?? Didn't it make it handle bad ??

When I rode my friend Jasson's AC500I I didn't like it at all. It felt really unstable. I actually wondered why there wasn't at least a small anti-sway bar. Doesn't seem very safe at high speeds.

I have found them to be very stable. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought one for the mountains up here. Granted I almost never drive faster then 35, but high speeds is not what they are built for.

So what you guys are saying is the only difference in the two is the FIS doesn't use a anti sway bar ?? I could disconnect mine if I wanted, But I don't see a need to. I can sit on one side of my Grizz and only that corner drops, It may lower a little in the rear on the other side. If the sway bar means it isn't true FIS then there isn't a car or truck on the road with FIS in the front either. I think it is a false claim by Cat. While the Cat may articulate more it will also be less stable at higher speed and cornering because the two don't go hand in hand. That is why in off road competition the Jeeps and trucks have removable sway control so under normal conditions it is more stable, But when needed it can be disconnected. Am I alone on thinking this ?? I am only speculating.

Yes, the only difference is the sway bar. It is not a false claim, in reality it is very true, as a sway bar connects the parts together, that makes them no longer "independant". So this may not be a false claim by Arctic Cat, but by every car manufaturer that claims to have a FIS and uses sway bars. Either way, I don't think anyone really cares. It is nice there are so many machies out there, each person can get one that is a perfect fit for themselves.

I agree catterman and I apologize for saying false claim because technically you are right. I just don't understand how it could be very stable. Don't get me wrong I think it is a great idea if it works and others will soon follow and I am in no way downing the Arctic Cat because I think they make a nice machine.
