best big tire for everything?
#1
Hey all, for hardpack, fields, mud, snow, and gravel, what type of 27/28" tire would be the best? Probably not a true mud tire? I'm mostly concerned with longevity, as well as performance.
They'll be on a Sportsman H.O.
Thanks!!

Our Mud Runners have done pretty good. They have 3000 miles on them and have lost their aggressivness in the deep spring snow. Will be looking at new ones soon.

I heard somewhere recently that ITP changed the rubber on their Holeshot ATRs to make it last longer. Unless they did the same to the Mudlites, I would stay away from them if you're looking for longevity. Don't let the "6-ply" fool you. The tire body may be 6-ply, but the lugs are made of a soft rubber.

I stayed with the stock sizes (F) 25x8x12 and (R) 25x12x10. They work fine, but I haven't measured them. When I was shopping I asked several of the dealers I talked to for suggestions and the DD's kept coming up, and they were also recommended by 1 or 2 of the magazines for all around traction and wear. The big bear is at my inlaws summer home so I can't measure the tires until I get up there this summer.
