Locking Differential

Default Locking Differential

What does locking differential do?

Default Locking Differential

It locks the front differential so that both tires get equal and constant power. Normally you have a limited slip differential which means when you get in deep mud or snow, power will go to the tire with least resistance. Locking Dif will pull you out of some real tough stuff, but it is very hard to turn.

Not really my Prairie has one and its not that hard to turn.

I thought that the locking differential locked all four wheels together. Not to bad to turn on the Prairie, but the old King Quad was a bear.

No, just the front. If you have a solid rear axle then you will already have equal power to both rear wheels. I think the IRS is the same but I'm not positive.

my dgl isnt at all hard to turn, dont get a spool type locker, those are the hard ones.

the kodiak 450 and grizzly 660 have the same locking mechanism.= tough to steer, but both will climb a barn wall if you could just hold on!
