Mud lite tires
#1
I want to put mud lite tires on my Grizz and have a decision to make. I would like to retain the stock size and stock wheel, But they only come in the shallow lug. If I want the deep lugs then I have to go to 26's, However I only see 26x10x12 and 26x12x12. Can a 2" wider tire be mounted on a stock rim ?? Has anyone had any experience with the shallow lug mud lite at's ?? Most of my riding is in the woods however I would like to go mudding sometimes so is it mud lite at's or mud lite at's ??

Just put a set on a Sportsman 500 a few weeks ago. I like them, I put 25" on. I though they looked a little wimpy at firs but they do an excellent job. There are a couple of picture in my profile of a ride we went on over the 4th. The Mud Lites(girlfriends 500) were as good or better than the Gators that I was running(my 500ho). I thought there might be a differene in the bugger mud holes but everthing I could get through so could my girlfriend. She did much better on the hard dirt that was greasy on top. The mud lites also ride very smooth, almost as smooth as the new radials.

i mounted my mudlites on my stock rims because the dealer honored my warrenty if i did. mounted up no problem. go for the big lugs, you will be glad you did. i have ridden quads with 25's on and they pretty much ride like stockers in my opinion, but i love my big lugged 27's, wish i would have gone 28's, oh well next time.

TB, I have the 26" Mud Lites mounted on stock wheels but also added 1" HighLifter wheel spacers. This set up makes the quad very stable yet still not to wide for the narrow trails that I ride. If you don't want to get the larger tire but want the tall agressive tread then you should look at the Maxxis Mud Bug. They have the tall lug in the 25" tire and they are a very good tire for all conditions and will provide a ride equal to the Mud Lites. Actually you could consider the Mud Bug over the Mud Lite in taller sizes as well, weight is practically the same and Bugs are even lighter is some sizes. You can't go wrong with either tire, however if you are a big mud rider the nod would go to the Bugs.

I put them on my magnum. There are some pics on my page. I did opt to go with the ITP wheels also. This machine went from spinning through a lot of wet sufraces to digging like mad in the lose terrain. My only beef with the Mud Lites is they suck on lateral wet had packed sufaces. We were riding some wet rocks and they wanted to slide a lot more than small lug tires. That is just one of those things that you have to give up. This is do to less surface area being on the ground. I say go with the tire that fits the terrain that you ride the most. By the way I have 26x10x12 on the front and 26x12x12 on the rear.

I haven't purchased them yet so I don't know who is the cheapest. I have talked to a few people that have them and for the most part they were happy, But a couple of people said if just the surface of the ground is slick like 1" or so of mud or going over any wet rocks they slip and slide a lot. I was hoping to get more opinions before I purchase them. I do some mudding, But the majority of my riding is on slick surfaces and wet grass in the woods so I am not sure if they are the right tire for me. I would like something better than the Dunlops that came on it, However I don't want to get to agreesive and have a tire that is good in the mud and crappy on slick stuff. These Dunlops aren't very good in the mud and seem to be worse on the slick stuff. I am just sitting tight and doing some research so I only have to do this once.
