Which one will feel the safest (not tip over) in offcamber sidehills?
-I'd say the low seat height and sra of the prairie would put it near the top.

Which one will get thru that mud hole the best?
-The BF, KQ, and SP 800 should be the contenders, most power and IRS. Since the BF is the only one out, it would be hard to determine a winner

Which one will cross the river the best?
-Again, BF, KQ, SP800

Which one will climb that steep hill with loaded up racks?
-You need low end grunt and a good trans. Looks like the same 3 and maybe the prairie thrown in for good measure.

Which one will crawl around in the thick brush the best?
-You will want good ground clearance and probably a good brush bar. The front bumpers on the new AC 650 look like the meanest stockers I've seen.

Which one will get stuck the least?
-With stock tires or aftermarket? Most stockers are junk, some worse than others. With the same tires, the best combination of light weight and power would prevail.

Which one will be the easiest to get un-stuck?
- Definately not the SP series or the AC 650, they weigh a good 100 pounds or more than the Japanese quads.

Which one will be the most confortable after 8+ hours in the saddle?
-I'd guess the rincon. Its very smooth and posh for an IRS big bore.

Which one makes the least noise?
-All of the stock mufflers are quite restrictive so it would be close.

Which one is most reliable?
-The longer they quads are out, the better they get. That said, even after a few years the problems arent all fixed. When the kq and sp come out we'll know more.

Which one has the best workmanship?
-Similar to the last question, but focused on the entire machine and not just drivetrain. Kawi has had some plastic issues in the past, but most hold together pretty well.

Which one is easiest to maintian?
-Most belt drives have good acces to the trans. Some quads, like the grizz, shove everything together and make the engine components difficult to get to.

Which one gets the best range on a single tank full?
-Probably a ute with a tiny engine, no power, and the biggest tank.

Which one will break down the least?
-Goes to reliability

Which one has the most storage?
- I hear the kq is supposed to have some good compartments. I know the bf has some, but I have yet to see them in person. SP usually dont have a whole lot of room.

Which one is easest to drive?
-The lighter the better. A arms on the bf and kq should improve handling.

Which one has the best brakes?
- Anyone but honda.

Which one has the best Tranny?
-The trans themselves usually arent the problems, its the belts and the abnormal wear that causes issues. Another Honda vulnerability here too.

Which one tows the most?
-SP800 most likely

Which one carries the most?
-Again, probably the SP800

Many of those answers may be wrong or just my own opinion. Feel free to kick them around and yell at me if they are incorrect. With the kq and sp800 yet to be widely released, if at all, and the bf just out, its hard to make a lot of these comparisons.

Gosh, that was a whole lot of typing and thinking for a set of rhetorical questions...

The new Sportsman could have the most awesome engine in the quad world (though not very likely) and it will still falter. There are things besides power that make a great machine and the Sportsman doesn't cover all the bases with it's other features. Polaris-only owners will think it's god's gift to the ATV realm. However, others will find it's flaws unless Polaris makes DRASTIC changes to this new 4x4.

The same can be said about the other big bores too

GREAT POST, MADDOG56, Here are my thoughts.

1. Which one will feel the safest (not tip over) in offcamber sidehills?
-I'd say the low seat height and sra of the prairie.

2. Which one will get thru that mud hole the best?
-If the mud hole does not have deep ruts and all of the quads use the same tire, I would say the lightest with the most power, which would be the prairie. BUT, if there are deep ruts, count out the SRA. Anything with IRS should be the best through deep rutted mud holes. The winner here would probably be between the BF, KQ, SP 800, SP700, AC650, or Griz.
Which one will cross the river the best?
-Again, BF, KQ, SP800

3. Which one will climb that steep hill with loaded up racks?
-You need low end grunt and a good trans. I would think any of them listed above, but would probably give the edge to the prairie becuase of the SRA to help keep is stable with a load.

4. Which one will crawl around in the thick brush the best?
-It depends on if you are crawling over things that can get you high centered. If so, that any of the IRS quads would be great. If not, you would probably want the most comfortable one. I have noticed that when I go through thick brush and crawl over logs at my deer lease, that I sometimes have too much power that will joult me over something.

5. Which one will get stuck the least?
-Depends on tires and if there are deep ruts. This would be the same as #2.

6. Which one will be the easiest to get un-stuck?
- Definately not the SP series or the AC 650, they weigh too much. I would say the ones that have the best weight to power ratio and IRS.

7. Which one will be the most confortable after 8+ hours in the saddle?
-Ones with IRS and probably a polaris or rincon would be the most comfortable.

8. Which one makes the least noise?
-They all pretty much have quiet mufflers, but I have noticed on my 700 prairie that the tranny is noisy when going about 10-15mph.

9. Which one is most reliable?
-Now days, they are all good. Sometimes there are lemons in each brand, but for the most part, they are good.

10. Which one has the best workmanship?
-Same as #9. Each machine has some little workmanship area, but for the most part, they are very good.

11. Which one is easiest to maintian?
-I am really not sure here, since I have only own 2 hondas and 3 kawa's.

12. Which one gets the best range on a single tank full?
-Considering the big bores, it would be the SP800efi or the KQ700efi.

13. Which one will break down the least?
-Same as #9.

14. Which one has the most storage?
- I don't know.

15. Which one is easest to drive?
-The lighter the better. I have drove a rincon, griz, my kawa 700, SP700efi and AC650. Of those, they were all easy to drive, but the rincon and SP700efi had the best steering feel at low speeds.

16. Which one has the best brakes?
- Kawa multi sealed system is the best for back breaks. Other than that, all are good, but the hondas are the least.

17. Which one has the best Tranny?
-All the belt tranny's are easy to use and very good. If you burn a belt, it is not a big price tag to fix. The hondas have very nice tranny's that are different from the belts systems, but if something breaks, you had better go get a loan out to fix it.

18. Which one tows the most?
-That would be between the SP800efi, SP700efi, BF, KQ, or prairie700.

19. Which one carries the most?
-Same as #18.

These are just my thoughts to these questions. They may be wrong or right, but time will tell.

Very true BIG BAD. All quads excell in areas better than others, and that helps balance out the playing field. For example, between the SP700efi and the kawa700 prairie the prairies v-twin is the better motor, but the SP700efi rode better, was better for mud and could get better traction. AND, they SP700efi is a very good motor as well. On that note, I think the BF motor will still be the best on power, BUT, THERE ARE MORE THINGS THAN POWER THAT MAKES A GREAT QUAD!!! And, this is why this years shootout will be very close.

i don't understand why everyone is so high on the new KQ. IT'S A SINGLE CYLINDER!!! power wise it won't hold up with the big twins. the new 800 will be somewhere at the top of the list, whether it's the very top or not remains to be seen. it's big and heavy ya, but so is the 700 and it got high remarks. i don't think it'll match the BF in a race but the handling and low end will be there.

I think all the big bores will be fast probably 70ish out of the crate. Stopping is them is the trick. I would like to see the new 800EFI have a duel disk brake set-up in the rear, similar to the ATP. I know when I get my SP700 up to speed the trick is slowing it back down.
Just as a FYI for the SP owners. I installed the HPD split brake system on mine. It is the perfect fix for those long steep rut/rock infested hills that you rely on the EBS. On the stock set-up the EBS doesn't effect the front wheels, so by putting the split brake system on, you have EBS for the rear and a nice easy to pull lever just for the front.

well the honda will last the longest, will break down the least and has the best tranny. and its brakes arent that bad. they are better then ACs and the bombardiers. they all will go through the mud. the kawi tows the best but not as much as the Sp800

also i think the kindquad will win the shootout between the big bore quads, wether its a single cylinder or not

the sp800 efi has daul exhaust and a lot of new storage space with the rack box up front (from the ATP) and a storage compartment in back too. They also have new agressive 26" radials, purpose built for this machine to Polaris specs. It will be one hell of a workhorse and mudder. I think it will be faster than all but the p700 and BF.
