Default Polaris 700 or Kawi BF 750?

This will be my first ATV, I have done some riding (not recently). I've been reading the forums, and have done some basic research. These two seem to be where I'm leaning. I like the polaris a little better because it looks more stable/sturdy, all those I've talked to say go polaris - stable ride, good bike. The kawi BF 750 looked kind of cheap, granted it was all stock.

I've read the concerns (polaris) with the ebs, and some other concerns. I haven't seen alot on the BF750, so any info is appreciated.

My main usage will be for hunting, minor trail riding, and some utility work (mowing, disc).

I've seen the flame wars that start here, so please try to stick to the facts.

Thanks!
Chris

Both machines will be very good for what you want to do. If you want the best motor, go with the kawa BF 750. The torque and power of a V-twin can't be beat. The ride of the kawa is suspose to be very good, but I have heard that they are slightly tippy. Some have put on aftermarket wider tires and even wheel spacers and that has corrected any tippyness from the stock set up. The polaris is a good machine too. You don't have a back up pull start on the polaris, so if you get in the woods and the battery is dead, you are stuck. But if you maintain the battery, it should not be a problem. The polaris is heavier than the kawa and if you get stuck, that exter weight will hurt you. Both have great ground clearance and good tranny's. I like the kawa v-twin power that I would get the kawa, buit that is me. But, both machines are very good. Good luck and let us know what you buy.

I agree with 700vtwinman. The BruteForce has the best engine which is kind of important since it is the heart of your quad. Quality and reliability, do a little more research and you will find out it is pretty impressive, like top honors. If you are worried about the suspension, you must know it is adjustable, meaning, many of the people complaining about the suspension have tried it with the suspension at a soft level. In many cases, having the suspension adjusted to the hardest level solves the problem. This far it is more stable then the Sportman700. To make it even better, lower its center of gravity and make it more stable, remove one or two inch of foam from your seat (it might cost 20$ to 30$). And if it is not enough and you want to race it through curves, well, add an Elka suspension and you have got a great utility quad to work that handles like a sport quad.

The way you are going to be using the machine suggests to me that you really don't need these types of machines.

Have you considered a Polaris ATP 500? That little dump bed would be great for hauling things while working or hunting. It's a Solid rear axle design but SRA is ideal for hauling heavy loads(no rear differential squat). The dump bed on this machine can hold a lot of weight, which would be nice for hauling large game out of the woods.

The ATP also has a turf setting that you can select that opens the rear diff so you don't rip your yard up while working.

I should have mentioned that I'm 6'4" about 270. So, I'd like something a little bigger than the 500. And I like the IRS on these models.

I've heard good things about the BF, but the one I looked at just seemed so cheesy and cheaply built. The body components really looked awful. It looked like it would snap off if I looked at it sideways.

It's probably time for some test rides

the brute has alot more power than the polaris, not that the polaris isn't powerful, cause it is, but the brute is much peppier. the polaris will probably be more comfortable. i'd want the brute because i'd want the fastest most powerful machine, but if you don't have to have the fastest, get the polaris. from what you seem to want to use it for the polaris would probably be better. they are from my experience very reliable quads, the belts now have a lifetime warranty, and they give an awesome ride. the 05's have a storage compartment under the front rack, but you could get a great deal till the end of the month on an 04. i know we could get an 04 700 for like $6400 with polaris doing the factory authorized clearance.

man, this is a tough decision. Both seem to be pretty excellent bikes. I do like the deal I can get on the sportsman ($6400), and I've heard the tow hitch on the BF leaves a little to be desired.

But I do like what I've heard about the power of the BF, and it seems there is a consensus that the engine may be more dependable.

I can't seem to find any real reason to eliminate one or the other. Maybe I'll need to get both

Thanks for all the advice, if anyone else has input I'm all ears!!
