Dragginbutt,

You're right, that is where I started. However, in between now and then I've considered the Polaris, Arctic Cat and Bombardier machines and ruled them out.

I'm not sure if I understand your comment about how I intend to use the machine. Do you think any one of the choices I've made won't work for my intended use (plowing, hunting, general trail riding)? That being said, am I missing something??? ...perhaps another machine that may work better.

Please let me know. Like you said (and I agree with), I am over-analyzing this, but I want to make sure I make an informed decision.

Thanks,

JT</end quote></div>

Why would you rule out the best 3 atvs?

CanAm fastest best handling most innovations. Range Rover

Polaris big heavy tough do anything brute. Hummer

AC tall big wheel wheels for big tires front locker. Jeep

Honda/Suz/Kaw/Yam. Rav4/Samauri/Tracker/Sidekick

I wont be towing much if at all. I'm most concerned with a machine that will plow my driveway, haul deer out of the woods, carry stuff while I'm riding around my property (feed, gear, etc), and be fun to ride occasionally on trails (Also must be big enough for me). Ground clearance is an issue with me as I recently got hung up on a fallen log with my buddy's Rancher. Are hang up's inevitable? Should I be so concerned about ground clearance? After all, most of the 500 class machines are within 3" of eachother with respect to ground clearance anyway (except the Arctic Cat's, but I dont want an AC). The towing dichotomy with IRS is not an issue. Do I need a locker? Will a standard ltd. slip front diff. work for me? From what I've read, lockers only see use about 5% of the time, but I don't have any experience, and therefore am asking all of you guys.

Thanks,

JT</end quote></div>

You need the Polaris X2 comes in 500/700/800! THis should be an easy decision.

To answer your question - NO Honda is not worth it. They are just small underpowered atvs just like the Rav4.

IMO they're still made only because some people are so brand loyal they will keep buying them no matter what a POS they are. Out of the top 7 brands Honda would be my 7th choice. I need something with more power, ground clearance, towing and rack capacity, and better suspension. Every time I shop around for a new ATV Honda is the first one that gets crossed off my list because it just won't do what I need an ATV to do. They used to be good a long time ago but they've been getting by on nothing but their reputation, which they don't even deserve.
