Default Grizzly Questions.

I am currently looking at Grizzlys to buy for the winter, mud, snow, trail riding, hauling things with, hill climbs, mud bogs, and crossin deep creeks. Anyways, I want atleast a 02 or up Grizzly. Wasnt 02 the first year for the 660 instead of the 600? Also, do all years of the 660 Grizzly have differental lock as well as the same features as the new Grizzly's have?

How would it do for trail riding, hill climbs, mudbogs, crossing deep creeks, snow, hauling things, and working? Also, are they fast stock? About what is their top speed?

I will be doing HMF Exhaust System, K+N Filter, Rejet, Warn Winch, Handguards, and some bigger tires, like 27". Would I have to lift the Grizzly at all to run 27" tires?

All other information will be appreciated as well.

Do not buy a grizzly. Look into something else.

Rolled over on me twice, and I have been riding for almost 14 years.
Rolled over on my girfriend also, and she doesnt even ride aggressively.

Look into a brute force or kingquad.. or perhaps a prairie/twin peaks.

I own a Grizz and have for almost a year. I love it. I ride VERY aggresively. I have never had it offer to roll over. It pulls and hauls great, Had it in the snow yesterday, and it couldn't get stuck. Pulled out a 800 EFI. Want a grizz? don't get a 2003, the axles are weak. Get a 2002 or 2004/5. Have fun.

Yea, I rode Grizzlys before. They kind of do feel "tipsy" when turning because of the IRS. Its either going to slide or hook up and tip on you.

Im sure if you get some wider tires it will help a lot.

Put some real tires on it and it will really surprise you. I have ITP-C series and Dirt Devil tires and it is as stable as any quad our there. It is very tuneable, so you can make it how you want it. I slide mine sideways all the time. When I am about to climb a hill, I don't just turn up the hill, I gun it and fishtail the rear end right around and rip up the hill straight. Lots of people ride it with the stock tires and get the wrong impression. The dirt wheels mag guys have to ride it with the stock tires for the tests and that really hurts the griz in the shoot outs. Once you get the 6 ply tires, it is all different. I run the front springs at 1 over stock setting, and the rear at the next to highest setting. I ride trails very aggressively and never feel uncomfortable at all. It is very common for me to rip down trails and slide into a turn sideways. I use a huge amount of body english to keep thing under control, but that is true off any quad and good rider.

they started the 660 in 01 i believe, and since then they have added some air vents in the plastics, an overide button for reverse, and a different radiator, the differential lock has always been standard on the 660, they are tippy, just know the machiens limits, they have a great power to weight ratio and i think youll love it,
you can run 27's w/o lifting, and they are plenty fast stock, and should do everything on your agenda.

Do your research. I had a 02 and loved it except for that nasty tan color...LOL! It back fired a lot too. I traded it for a 05 Grizzly and loved it until I flipped it down a hill 3 times. I found out the dealer I bought it from didn't fill the brake fluid. We took it to their shop and again they let it leave trail ready without brake fluid. We are in the process with Yamaha Corp to take care of it all.

Anyways, I love the Grizzly...just do your research.

Just picked up a new Griz today. Don't know much about four wheelers but first thought was, I need to get new tires/wheels for this baby. Can you give me some detail on wheel/tire size?

Thanks, Man.
