Default John Deere

My step father just purchased a 500 cc John Deere Buck. How are they? I only ask because he knows that I have computer access and wants to know if he picked a decent machine after the fact.

Well, I haven't riden or owned the JD ATV so I'm not qualified, except to say that you do know JD doesn't build them, don't you? JD's ATV line is built by Bombardier. I've been a fan of John Deere since I first stepped on a their 95 model combine. Why they saw fit to farm out production to a Canadian company, I'll never know! I do know this, there are many John Deere dealers around the country, especially in the bread basket states. If you don't have a dealer in your town, you're probably no more than an hour's drive from one.

What you have is a Bombardier Traxter in JD green. They are suposed to be realy good quads but I have not had the pleaseure of owning one you might ask this question in the Bombardier forum to get some owner feedback. you may want to determine which buck you have since JD offers the Buck 500, Buck 500 ex , Buck 500 auto (belt drive) and the one with the dump bed on it is the same basic quad as the 2 seater traxter.

Yes, John Deere dealerships are all over the place but I wonder if many of them have mechanics that are trained to work on the ATVs? Just because a mechanic is a genius at repairing big equipment dosent mean he can know all about these little rigs.

Best mechanic at our local dealership would not be my choice to have work on my Kawi but I would trust him with any of our heavy equipment.

and wants to know if he picked a decent machine after the fact.
If he is planning on jumping with it, he picked a poor machine. If he plans to drag race with it, he picked a poor machine. If he planned on a nice cushy ride, he picked the wrong machine.

If he plans to climb, haul, carry, pull, slow trail ride or any other work function, he picked the only machine to have.

i'll second dortortorbo, no one builds a better machine than bomb, from the rotex down is is faaaaar better, but they are more specific in what they build. there utility is only that, dont think that you have a sport-utility because you dont.
