Last month I used my vinson to go out into the rice fields and collect my duck decoys. I was in up to 2' deep water and crud for two or three hours. (what a blast!)When I got back I just pulled the rice straw that was wound around everything and hosed it off. Is there anything else I should do? There have been no problems, I'm just curious -Thanks.

 

Change fluid in your differentials, check shaft seals and swingarm bearings... ummm

 

a little water could of gotten in the air box. maybe.

 

You know if you only was in 2 ft. of water you will probably be alright as long as your filler caps are tight. You might want to check your fluids and make sure they are not contaimenated but I ride in deep water with a few people w/vinsons and they are cool. We ride in water and deep mud and our's are good. Don't change it unless it is time, contaminated or you are uncomfortable. Waste of money.

just chech the fluids like everyone else said but it should be fine if its runnin fine

 

I would particularly check the engine oil, for foaming. It will turn milky and nasty. If it is messed up, that would be the most expensive damage to have to fix.

 

Do yourself a favor and check all fluids ,just because it's running ok don't mean a thing .
If it's an auto with a belt setup pull the drain plug .

I'd change the diff fluid anyways. How much does it cost? It's costs me $4.50 a qt., big deal. Little price to pay to eliminate any uncertainty. Especially if you rode a while to get the fluid slighty warm. Sitting in the water for that long could have cooled it off drawing in some unwanted stuff. Just my $0.02 though.

 

In some states you have to be carefull where you go. I think nh and maine have or are making laws that make it illegal for atvs, 4x4 trucks, snowmobiles to cross streams or open bodies of water.

 

that sucks. that the best part of trail riding.
