Your best bet is to wait and get a good winch. A winch that doesnt work when you need it isnt a winch.

A winch is the best insurance policy you can buy.

Default what winch?

Me and three of my buddies bought the winches off of ebay that I'm talking about and have yet to have any problem with them I used mine all winter with my snowblade and use it all the time to pull my two wheel drive buddies out and to get myself out of some situations, Its been completely underwater and been through alot and it has yet to let me down, not bad for 50 bucks.

I bought a Ramsey off Ebay they are very good winches. They are just as good if not better than a Warn and they are cheaper.

Word of warning...do NOT get a mile marker winch. I have one on the sportsman, and they dont work wet...you get into some serious mud(been there), and your winch is wet..so it doesnt work...sure is a bad situation

Warn is the top of the line in quality, reliability and durability.
Ramsey is a good winch but not to the level of Warn.
Superwinch is gaining a reputation for quality, but does not have the history behind it that Warn and Ramsey carry.
Any other winch, you are taking chances. It may work out. It may not. What is better a $50 winch that fails or a $300 winch that works everytime? Try the cheap one. Then return it and get a good winch.

iI beg to differ, unless you have actually used a cheap winch then you do not know. I along with two of my buddies purchased the 50 dollar winches from ebay, they came with a mount and roller fairlead. I had to slightly modify the mount for my 04 vinson, and I bought another switch. I used it all winter to run my blade and I have used it numerous times to pull other riders out and myself out. It has been well under water numerous times and has yet to fail. If you look at my winch then a superwinch there is no visible difference. I guess choose what s best for you, I couldn't be happier with mine
