Default Wanting 4x4 Quad, Have 5k Need Advice Please

Well as the title states... I'm in the process of selling my Raptor 660R, and I want to get a utility quad. I wanted to get a BF 750, but my credit isn't good enough. So the way I look at it is I'll have 5k cash to spend. I'd like to get the biggest, and baddest that I can afford. However I really don't know what that is. I found a Prarie 650 locally on ATVtrader.com for 5k. I don't know much about them though. My pops has a Prarie 360, and it's a pretty nice bike for the power it has. Anyhow I look forward to everyone's input. Thanks!

If you want big and bad and under 5K, the Prairie 650 will be the best out there. ATV of the year in it's day and a consistant shootout winner until Kawi brought out the 700. Since you are switching from a sport bike to sport/ute, you'll probably prefer the solid rear axle, even though IRS will have lots of advantages in mud and rocks. The 650 came out in '02, I've seen some advertised around 4K.

Check out the 2005 Brute Force 650 before buying a used Prairie for $5,000. You can buy the BF650 out the door (excluding tax and registration which you will have to pay on the used one as well) for $5,800.

Good Luck.

Unless they really give deals back your way, I'd be hard pressed to get near a new 650 of any kind around here, for under 6G's. And besides, Mattic says he has 5G's. I take him at his word.

Oh, and "Out the door" means "Out the door". If you haven't added taxes or registration, or whatever else, then it's not "Out the door". "Out the door" means you're done and that's the price. Nothing added.

You might not be able to fianance the whole amount with your terrible credit but if you put 5k down payment on a new quad I'm willing to bet they would fianance you then.

That would help a ton in rebuilding your credit and you could buy whatever quad you wanted

Its not the Biggest, or the Baddest, but you could prolly find a dealer that would sell you a brand new BigBear 400 4x4

Go look at an 04 Honda Foreman 4x4 (450) or look at a 2005 Honda Foreman4x4 (500)!

If that Prairie is in good condition-Snag it! I've spent a ton of saddle time on one and love it. The only glitch is the 4x engagement. If you're getting into some hairy ****, put it in 4x before you're stuck. It has to roll a little before it engages. The sp. 500's and the Vinsons are also great quads in this $ range.

Have a look at a Vinson or Sportsman 500. Both of these are great quads in this range.
