Default Honda Rancher question

I took the motor off my 2001 2wd Honda Rancher the other day to put new rings in it. I disconnected all the wires from the motor that connected to the wire harness. I installed the new rings and put the motor back on, but in the process of wiggling the motor into the frame, the spark plug cap got caught and was pulled off, now that everything is hooked up it wont get any spark, we've tried other (known to be good) spark plugs and all the other electrical parts on it work, the starter even rolls over and has lots of compression, all the other wires have been untouched and the cap is the only thing that's came off, I was wondering if it could be in the coil, or if the cap coming off had anything to do with it?? or if anyone else has an idea whats wrong??? thanks for any help - Eric

Default Honda Rancher question

The cap is made to come off, and it should just screw back on.
Have you tired a spark check, with out the cap on? Just hold the end of the spark plug wire, about 1/4 " from the head, and spin it over. It should spark. If it doesnt, then the cap isnt the problem.
Most of those caps ohm check about 15k ohms, if its significantly higher, or open, that could cause the no spark.
If you have a service maunal, itll say how to check the secondary of the coil, this will check the coil and spark plug wire. Most of the time its just an ohm check, but i dont have the specs for it.
