Trailer for my ATV
#1
I'm looking for a good trailer to pull behind my ATV. I had one of those Home Depot lawn tractor trailers and it only lasted one season. In the Northern Tool catalog I saw a "Polar Sport" Polar sled ATV Polyethylene trailer. Does anyone know if this is a good trailer? I hate to purchase one and have to send it back. The problem I had with the Home Depot Trailer was, when I loaded it up with fire wood and drove it off road, the bed would flex and the tail gate would pop off and all the wood would fall out. Now the tailgate won't even fit anymore. The Home Depot Tailer was rated for 1500 lbs. I never got close to the 1500 pounds and it still got all bent up. Anyway, I've really had my eye on one of those Polar Sport Trailers. Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

Thanks guys, I just purchased an Otter SuperX XST ATV Trailer. It holds 20 Cubic feet and 1500lbs. www.otteroutdoors.com. I bought it through Bass Pro Shops. They had the best price + no tax and only $12.00 shipping. $433.94 to my door. It also has a 3 year warranty. I hope it's what I wanted. I'll post when I get it and try it out.

I tried one of those 10 cu. yard "lawn trailers" too. Just like you said, as soon as I loaded some firewood in it and went down the trail, the lever tripped on the tongue and dumped out my load. After I fixed that problem then the tailgate would flex and fall off. After I screwed in the tailgate, it works ok for light loads on level ground, but is to tippy for what I use it for, I'm looking for something cheap that has four wheels like a heavy duty wagon of some kind. I only paid $15.00 for mine so I"m not out much anyway.

I have a harbor freight special about 3x4 foot, with a little reinforcement mine has held up.

I received my Otter SXT trailer. The quality is very good. It took about an hour to put it together. I didn't like the fact you had to drill holes in the tub, but it was easy. I loaded it up with about 5 loads of wood. About 1000 lbs each. No rattles, tracks great, no problems yet. Nice trailer...Has a three year warranty...

Another update: Great trailer. I loaded it with at least 1500 lbs of oak rounds. Awsome!!! Watch the downhills... I threw some small rounds from about 15 feet up a side of a hill into the trailer, no damage at all. The large atv tires are great.

I picked up the Otter superXst trailer tonight as well from my local Sportsman's warehouse. $399 in stock. I just got done assembling it. Initial impressions are very good. Install took me a little over an hour, alot of that time was packing and installing the wheel bearings. If you attempt to assemble one make sure you have plenty of trailer bearing grease on hand.
The trailer is olive green and a near dead match in color with my olive green Rancher. The only goofy thing about it is the bright white powder coated wheels, but the tires are nice and meaty. I'm excited to get this thing down the hill tomorrow and haul up a pyle of stumps that have been taunting me.
